OptiGauge vs. Nuclear Gauge

Nuclear gauges such as beta, gamma, or x-rays are commonly used by film manufacturers for quality control during manufacturing as a way of monitoring layer thickness. There are downfalls to nuclear gauging though, its inability to measure multiple layers at once directly being a primary one.

Low-coherence interferometry is an advantageous alternative to nuclear-based gauging systems. In addition to being a proven measurement technology with multi-application capabilities, low-coherence interferometry offers benefits in:

  • Safety
  • Precision
  • Total cost of ownership
